Installing the emulators does not install the required BIOS files. It might be crashing because it didn't finish transferring. It likely started with the Dreamcast games, and it sounds like you only gave it time to maybe transfer one. Maybe do 4-5 ROMs a time, if you need to see something immediately. It sounds like you're trying to restart/eject it way too fast. If there are no ROMs, then it won't show you the installed emulators. You only see emulators once ROMs are in their respective folders. I don't believe it's fair to withhold crucial information to get the system up and running. Is there a sub that will provide help on this?Įdit IV: If and when I do get this working I'm going to be making a complete write up and post it somewhere including where to get BIOS files and ROM/ISOs. I'd like to know where to get them and googling "dc_boot.bin" gave me fuck all. We know everyone has them, but let's keep these out of this sub. Any help would be devastatingly appreciated.ĭon't post links or ask for links to ROMS or BIOS. sorry for the profanity for those sensitive to it, this is just really frustrating. I thought I already downloaded/installed the Dreamcast emulator when I went into the main/optional/experimental and did that shit already. I tried to run it and it came up with an error saying "You need to copy the Dreamcast BIOS files (dc_boot.bin and dc_flash.bin) to the folder to boot the Dreamcast emulator.". Of the 5 I extracted, it was able to recognize one. Ejected the usb drive, plugged it back into the pi and booted it up.

I'm terribly sorry for the wall of text, I want to be as thorough as possible to avoid misunderstandings.Įdit (+21min): I did a "Restart Emulationstation" and my GameBoy Advance is now showing with all my games, but nothing else aside from the Dreamcast with no roms/isos.ĮditII (+1hr): Powered down the pi, pulled my usb drive out, plugged it into my computer, and pulled some Dreamcast isos from the zip folders for shits and gigles. What the fuck am I doing wrong and am I supposed to direct the emulators to the usb storage where all the respective emulators roms/isos are? I went into Dreamcast and none of my games were there. I plug it back into the Pi and boot it up only to find the two, Dreamcast and RetroPie, options are still there. I properly shut down the Pi, unplug the usb drive, plugged it into my computer and dumped all my roms/isos in the respective folders. I plug in my properly formatted (Fat32) usb drive that had the one folder in it "retropie" so that it can build the libraries/directories.

I think "okay, maybe when I have the usb drive full of games it'll recognize it and populate the home menu with the corelating emulators". After I get done installing the emus, only one console/emulator shows up which is Dreamcast. I went to Retropie Setup - Manage packages - main/optional/experimental and installed the emus that I want rebooting after every installation (I just feel better doing it that way). Okay, so I'm running 4.1 on a RasPi3, using a DS3 via usb.
